More than forty years ago, the postcard was an integral part of life abroad—a small message that carried an abundance of longing and affection.
 

During my time in Greece, I would carefully choose a postcard featuring one of Athens' landmarks, write a few heartfelt words, affix a postage stamp, and send it to my family and friends in the United Arab Emirates. Then came the wait—often several weeks for the postcard to arrive, followed by several more before a reply would make its way back.
 

The writing space was limited, and the card itself was open for anyone handling the mail to read. That made us choose our words with great care, expressing only what was necessary to reassure those we loved that we were safe and well.
 

Today, messages are delivered in an instant through modern technology. Those postcards, however, travelled slowly. Yet they carried a warmth that digital messages can rarely replicate, leaving memories that have endured far beyond the passage of time.
 

Whenever I come across an old postcard, I am reminded that while the means of communication may change, sincere emotions remain timeless. Some of life's most treasured memories are born from its simplest moments.
 

To everyone who once received a postcard from me in those days—do you still have it, or have you kept only the memory?
